Westglow Neighbors Celebrate One of Their Own

Westglow Neighborhood CelebrationFathers Day was extra special for WCDC resident Ed Stanton. Affectionately known as the “Mayor of Westglow,” Stanton was thrilled when friends and neighbors in the Westglow community got together and surprised him with a new propane gas grill in appreciation of his community spirit.

When Ed and his wife, Lori, decided to purchase their first home through Wesley CDC, they were elated when they learned that their house payments would be less than they had been paying for rent.

So enthused was Ed, that during the construction of the Westglow community, Ed was always right there to help. Not only did Ed work on his own home, but he donated more than 400 hours of sweat equity to neighbor's homes in Westglow as well. Now like a grandfather to many of the children in the neighborhood, Ed is even known to some as “Pa Pa Ed."

Those joining together to celebrate Ed's neighborhood contributions and community spirit included Teresa St. Clair, Joey Carter, Terry and Michelle Henderson, Dave and Jennifer Laughlin, Jerry and Cathy Henderson, Chris and Kim Burgess and Ed and Lori's children, Christopher, Rory and Jessica.

When asked why they bought such a wonderful gift for Ed, Kim Burgess exclaimed, "We all love Ed. He is a special person to all of us."
